Mission Statement

The library will provide resources, telecommunication networks, and programs/activities that meet the needs and interest of the citizens of Centreville, build community, and promote lifelong reading and learning.

Rules of Conduct

To protect the patrons' right of access to the library and its resources and to ensure a healthy, peaceful, and safe environment for staff and patrons, the Board of Trustees has adopted the following rules of conduct.

The following behaviors are prohibited:

Engaging in any activity prohibited by law
Disruptive or unsafe behavior
Use of loud, abusive, threatening or insulting language
Sexual misconduct
Activities or conduct that may result in injury to a patron or staff member
Activities or conduct that may result in damage to library property and resources
Eating or drinking in the library
Sleeping in the library
Smoking or using tobacco in the library
Using a cellular phone, audible pager, or audio equipment
Bring animals, except for guide or assistance dogs, into the library
Soliciting or selling merchandise

The library is not responsible for children who are left unattended in or on the grounds of the library.

The library is not responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged in the library.

The Centreville Public Library reserves the right to restrict the use of its facilities and premises to persons who do not abide by the library's rules of conduct. The library staff may ask persons who are exhibiting inappropriate behavior to modify their behavior. Noncompliance with the library's rules of conduct may result in the person being asked to leave the premises or being arrested and prosecuted.
